Taxes
Whether it was on the Lodi City Council or in the California State Legislature, I have consistently opposed higher taxes and defended taxpayer protections such as those embodied in Proposition 13.
On the Board of Equalization I will continue to defend California taxpayers, working to help ease the tax burden among individuals and small businesses alike. I will also ensure taxpayers receive a fair and sympathetic hearing before the Board of Equalization.
Budget and Government Spending
On the Board of Equalization, I will continue my fight for reduced government spending and a balanced budget without tax increases. I will also continue to push for open, transparent government spending and audits that expose waste and inefficiencies.
Jobs and Economy
Our state’s taxation and regulation policy is continuing to drive businesses out of state, or out of business. As a small business owner, I know firsthand how difficult it is to prosper under California’s heavy taxes and regulations. That’s why I will fight for small businesses while on the Board of Equalization, helping to ease their tax burdens and push for reduced regulations that will help businesses expand and grow jobs.
Public Safety
Our state must always put public safety first – including protecting the 3-strikes law and ensuring we have tough laws that keep prisoners behind bars. We also need to fully fund our prisons to end any talk of early release of criminals back into our streets.
The auditors at the Board of Equalization can play a key role in exposing waste and fighting for responsible government spending, which will help ensure we have the funds needed for the essentials, like public safety. After all, safety in our neighborhoods should not be sacrificed because Sacramento cannot control its spending on unnecessary projects.
